FAQs

How long does it take chives to sprout?

Chives typically sprout in 7–14 days. If you’re past 14 days, the most common causes are cool temperatures, low light, or soil kept too wet. Aim for 65–75°F (18–24°C), keep soil evenly moist (not soggy), and give bright light 6–8 hours/day.

Can I grow chives indoors on a windowsill?

Yes—chives are one of the easiest herbs to grow indoors. Use a pot with drainage holes, place it in a bright window (or under a grow light), and keep the soil lightly moist. Rotate the pot every few days so the blades grow evenly.

My chives aren’t sprouting (or the blades look thin). What should I do?

First, check these quick fixes:

Too cold: keep the pot in a warmer spot (65–75°F / 18–24°C).
If you tell us your pot size, light hours, and watering routine, we can suggest the best adjustment. We reply within 1 business day.

Not enough light: move closer to the window or add a grow light.

Too wet: let the top layer dry slightly, then water lightly—avoid soggy soil.
